What is an Owner in GovernRent?

Most of your properties in GovernRent.com will likely have an owner but it is very flexible. An owner in GovernRent can be:

  1. You
  2. Your spouse
  3. You and your partner
  4. Your LLC (or any kind of company)
  5. Another person
  6. Another company.

For 5 and 6, you might manage a property for another person. GovernRent isn't really designed for that, but you can do it.

You can skip ownership for a property too. This is handy for when you're looking at acquiring a property and you want to keep records on the process but you don't know the owner or don't really want to have them in your system.

You might also want to add a property without an owner just to be able to track things about that property (with no intention of buying it).

Having an owner in the system is also a great place to keep details about your company. Here's a few examples:

  1. LLC documents
  2. Business wide policies
  3. Assets the business owns
  4. Actions taken by the company
  5. Expenses that are for the business but not any specific property.

Being able to support multiple LLC's is a core feature of GovernRent.
